GFS Worldwide

The Girls Friendly Society is represented in over 25 countries around the world. They collective is  governed by the World Council. The purpose of the World Council  is to promote friendship between members of the society around the world. World Council, World Project and World Day of Prayer are regular events which support this objective. Participation in these events has facilitated opportunities for special friendships between participating countries.

World Council is a triennial gathering hosted by World Council that brings members together every  to , worship together, and celebrate the fellowship of GFS and plan the work of the Society for the next three years. World Council is hosted by the World Chairman’s country. Our current World President (2014-2017) is Mrs. Val Gribble of Perth Australia. The World Day of Prayer is a service prepared yearly by a GFS Member Country. It is celebrated on September 25 (St. Michael and All Angels) and brings GFS members around the world together to celebrate as a community.

The World Council Project, a three year mission project, is selected by the delegates at World Council and is partially funded by World Day of Prayer offerings.

  • Africa : Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Zambia
  • Asia & Pacific Region : Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka
  • Caribbean & Central America : Barbados, Honduras
  • Europe : England, Ireland, and Wales
  • North America : USA
  • South America : Guyana
