Overview of the Special Service Badges

Service to each other and to others helps girls fulfill the GFS Motto: Bear Ye One Another’s Burdens and So Fulfill the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). The Special Service Badges can be earned at any time. The leader of the branch should certify that the requirements for the badges have been met.

Overview of the Blue Level

The materials in the Blue Level are targeted for kindergarteners and first graders. However, older girls will also enjoy the materials and concepts taught. Important Christian women are the inspiration for the badges at this level. There are four sessions for each badge. Hand-on activities, fun games and age-appropriate crafts with easy explanations are fun for both the girls and the leader.

The Vest

Vests can either be made or purchased from the Supply Chairman of GFS/LA. Positioning of the badges on the vest is shown here.

To make the vests, use white fabric for the vest and navy blue for the lining. Choose a comfortable weight, sturdy poly/cotton that will wear well and resist wrinkles. The patterns for the vest come in nine sizes, listed below. To print the patterns, first download and save to a Flash Drive, Memory Stick or CD, then take the appropriate files to your local copy store and ask them to print out the patterns on large paper. Save these patterns for future use.

Instructions for sewing the vest are available to print here: Vest Sewing Instructions.

Refer to the Size Chart when ordering.
